§ Mr. Boscawenasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will set up a review into the possibility of paying to self-employed persons social security benefits, including rent rebates, which are not at present available to them.
§ Mr. DeanI do not think such a review is called for. Flat-rate national insurance benefits, other than unemployment benefit and industrial injury benefits, are already payable to the self-employed ; and they are also eligible for rent rebates in the same way as employed people. If my hon. Friend has any particular case in mind perhaps he will let me know.
