Mr. Cyril Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement about the dispute at the new grain terminal in the Container Dock at Crosby, Liverpool ; and whether he is prepared to instruct his Department to intervene.

Mr. Peyton

The dispute is concerned with the allocation of jobs in the terminal, manning scales, wages and hours of work.

The Mersey Docks and Harbour Company informs me that it will continue its endeavours to reach agreement to the opening of the terminal before the end of the year.
