§ Mr. Maclennanasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if it is his intention that after the implementation of local government reorganisation the youth and community service should remain an integral part of the education service and be the responsibility of the new regional education departments.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellThe Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 transfers to the regional and islands councils the functions of the existing education authorities under the Education (Scotland) Acts. It does not alter the powers and duties of education authorities under these Acts with regard to social, cultural and recreational activities and physical education and training for young people and adults.
