HC Deb 27 November 1973 vol 865 c80W
27. Mr. Douglas

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on employment prospects for petroleum engineers in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Dudley Smith

The report of the interdepartmental Working Party on Education and Training for Offshore Development, whose recommendations the Government have accepted, quotes the estimate of the Petroleum Industry Training Board that the demand for petroleum engineers will rise from 110 in 1973 to 370 in 1980, and comments that further work on the projections is likely to show a greater increase in demand.
