HC Deb 27 November 1973 vol 865 c79W
24. Mr. Terry Davis

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what standard of lighting is regarded as sufficient and suitable for the purposes of the Factories Act 1961 and the Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act 1963.

Mr. Dudley Smith

The only statutory provisions giving standards of lighting for factories are in the Factories (Standards of Lighting) Regulations, 1941.

My Department published a booklet in 1969 giving recommended standards of illumination for offices, shops and railway premises.
