HC Deb 27 November 1973 vol 865 c108W
Mr. Stratton Mills

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will propose introducing a selective system of industrial grants so that those areas of Northern Ireland with high and persistent unemployment would be enabled to get a proportionately larger percentage grant.

Mr. David Howell

It is the policy of the Northern Ireland Ministry of Commerce to offer grants on buildings and machinery under the Industries Development Acts at rates which range from 30 per cent. to 40 per cent. The higher rates are available only in the areas of persistently high unemployment.
