§ Mr. Maxwell-Hyslopasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will now authorise electricity to be used for heating places of worship on Sundays (a) in the mornings and (b) at times in the evening which do not coincide with other peak user demands.
§ Mr. EmeryA general licence was issued on 23 rd November under which pemises being used as churches, chapels or other places of worship or religious education are permitted without further application to use electricity for the purpose of heating provided that this use extends to only six hours in any period of seven days. This relaxation applies only when the premises are used for worship or religious educational purposes. Churches like other users can of course continue to use electricity for night storage heating purposes between the hours 0030 and 0730.
