§ Mr. David Steelasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will seek to amend the procedure for the disposal of Government land to take account of social and agricultural as well as financial considerations.
§ Mr. ChannonSocial considerations are already taken into account in the procedures in offers of surplus land to other Government Departments, local authorities, statutory undertakings and the106W Housing Corporation. Agricultural considerations are taken care of in consultation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and in the application of the Crichel Down rules for the sale back of agricultural land to former owners or their successors.
