§ Mr. Cormackasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will make a further statement on the Government's intentions with regard to granting financial aid to historic churches.
§ Mr. ChannonAfter preliminary discussions the General Synod's working party prepared studies of the estimated costs of the necessary repairs to churches in the dioceses of Norwich and Lincoln and of the local funds available to meet them. These studies are now under consideration. Less intensive studies on churches in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Cheltenham are awaited. When these are available further discussions will be held with the General Synod's working party, which is in touch with the other denominations through the Churches Main Committee.
