§ Mr. Tom BoardmanResponsibility for exploration and proving of reserves rests with the National Coal Board, which has recently commenced a greatly expanded programme of exploration. The estimation of workable reserves involves extensive borings and geological studies, and realistic estimates cannot be made till these are completed. I will write to the right hon. Member when further information on recently discovered reserves is available.
