§ 57. Mr. William Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Employment what has been the result of his inquiries into the increases in the salaries of certain individuals.
§ Mr. Maurice MacmillanI understand that the Pay Board investigated one such increase in salary which received wide publicity and found that it did not breach the stage 2 pay code any more than a number of other payments made under firm pre-standstill commitments involving commission payments, profit-sharing and payment-by-results schemes. However, the Government have been concerned about excessive increases resulting from pre-standstill commitments and have provided in the stage 3 code that such increases should be limited.
