HoweIt is estimated that imports of consumer durables accounted for 4 per cent., 6 per cent., 9 per cent. and 12 per cent. of imports of machinery (Divisions 71 and 72 of the Standard International Trade Classification (Revised)) in the third quarters of 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973, respectively. Of the remainder it is not possible to say how much was for manufacturing industry.
