§ Mr. Michael Cocksasked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if he will enlarge the membership of the Local Government Boundary Commission to enable it to proceed simultaneously with re-warding and with the consideration of possible boundary changes;
(2) if he is satisfied that the Local Government Boundary Commission is able to fulfil its function adequately.
§ Mr. RipponThe commission expects to report to me and my right hon. Friend the Home Secretary shortly on its future programme of work. The points raised by the hon. Member will be taken into account when the commission's report is considered.
