HL Deb 20 November 1973 vol 346 c1048WA
LORD HYLTON

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have received the Report of the Finer Committee on One-Parent Families and when it will be published; and whether the Committee has suffered any further delays on account of either membership or administrative support.

THE MINISTER OF STATE, DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL SECURITY (LORD ABERDARE)

My right honourable friend the Secretary of State for Social Services has not yet received the Committee's Report, although he hopes to do so shortly. The Report will be published as soon as possible thereafter. The Committee did suffer an early setback in the death of its first secretary, and the illness and death of Professor Titmuss earlier this year has been a serious loss. But members and officials have worked very hard to make up the ground, and administrative support to the Committee has been considerably strengthened during the past year to assist in drafting the Report.
