§ Mr. Powellasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will institute a system of records which would indicate how many persons each year receive travel documents in accordance with the Geneva Convention of 1951, and how many hold them.
§ Mr. LaneRecords of the numbers of travel documents issued are already maintained on an annual—financial year—basis. These records, however, are not classified on the basis of nationality; nor could they indicate how many people hold current documents, because they cannot, for example, show which holders of documents have died nor—without disproportionate effort—how many have failed to renew their documents.
