§ 41. Sir John Tilneyasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what percentage of home fuel consumption he estimates would be saved in the winter months from December onwards by reverting to summer time.
§ Mr. EmeryI do not consider that there would be any significant effect on the overall level of fuel consumption by the adoption of British Summer Time during the winter months, as I am advised by the Electricity Council that the total number of units consumed in a typical 24-hour period is substantially the same irrespective of the time system in operation.
