School Building Programme

Mr. Sproat

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she will provide statistics in tabular form showing for each of the years 1965–66 to 1974–75, inclusive, the total school building programme, indicating separately the amounts allocated to (a) basic needs, primary and secondary, (b) improvements and replacements, primary and secondary, (c) special provisions for raising of the school leaving age, and (d) minor works.

(b) Includes £1.0 million yet to be allocated to primary or secondary projects in Wales, and £9.2 million allocated to five local education authorities in England as part of a pilot block allocation scheme which cannot be separated into primary and secondary elements.

(d) Includes £0.1 million yet to be allocated to primary or secondary projects in Wales.
(e) Excluding the resources for the first stage of the special nursery education building programme, totalling £37 million over the years 1974–75 and 1975–76.
