HC Deb 08 November 1973 vol 863 cc243-4W
Mr. David Clark

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if he is satisfied with the operation of the 1962 Rates (Statutory Deduction) Order in providing a suitable formula for the 1972 revaluation of properties;

(2) if he is satisfied that the 1972 revaluation of property sufficiently took account of the increased costs of repairs and maintenance;

(3) what plans he has to modify the statutory deductions with regard to allowances for the cost of repairs and maintenance in determining the rateable value of properties.

Mr. Graham Page

As my right hon. and learned Friend indicated in his reply on 24th October to the Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Essex, South-East (Sir Bernard Braine)—[Vol. 861, c.512–3]—he is now satisfied that the scale of statutory deductions should be altered, as from 1st April 1974.
