§ Mr. Biggs-Davisonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is his estimate of the numbers of East African Asians who will seek settlement in the United Kingdom; and what is the basis of such estimate.

CarrIt is not possible to estimate with any precision how many of the United Kingdom passport holders in these countries will seek settlement in the United Kingdom but, as I have already indicated, it is the Government's intention to limit the annual rate of those admitted for settlement to a figure within the order of magnitude of recent years.
