Mr. Meacher

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what evidence he has of the rate of income tax actually paid, both at the margin and averaged over the whole span of income, after all tax reliefs and tax allowances have been taken into account, in the case of an average man earing, respectively, £1,000, £1,500, £2,000, £3,000, £5,000, £10,000, £20,000, £50,000, and £100,000.
