§ Mr. Greenasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will increase the rate of interest payable on the investment accounts of the National Savings Bank and the special investment department accounts of the trustee savings banks.
§ Mr. NottThe rate of interest on deposits in the National Savings Bank's 27W investment accounts will be increased from 8 per cent. to 9 per cent. from 1st January 1974. The National Debt Office will be ready to consider applications from individual trustee savings banks to raise the interest rates on deposits in their special investment departments within a maximum of 9 per cent. on or after 21st November 1973.
