asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the current waiting list for all courses at Government training centres in Wales; whether further applications have been suspended for any courses; and if he will make a statement.

Because of the lengthy waiting lists recruitment has been temporarily suspended to classes in bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, heating and ventilating fitting, house painting and decorating, plastering and plumbing, and at some centres to classes in electric welding, radio, TV and electronics servicing and electronic wiring and circuit testing.

Additional classes in some of the trades for which there are substantial waiting lists have already been planned for the extension to Cardiff GTC which will open in August 1973. A new GTC is planned for Newport and the GTC at Wrexham is being extended.
