My Department has drawn up a document listing the institutions in the United Kingdom which are authorised to award first or higher degrees, together with those qualifications currently awarded on examination by other bodies in the United Kingdom which are recognised by the Burnham Committee as equivalent to a degree for teachers' salary purposes. Arrangements are being made to send copies to British diplomatic posts and British Council offices abroad and to Commonwealth and foreign diplomatic missions in this country. Copies have been placed in the House of Commons Library and are available from my Department. I am sending a copy to my hon. Friend.
