§ Rev. Ian Paisleyasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what are 378W the full-pay and the half-pay entitlements during illness of career teachers employed by local education authorities in England and Wales.
§ Mr. St. John-StevasTeachers' conditions of service are not the responsibility of my right hon. Friend. I understand, however, that the position is as follows. Sick pay regulations are made by the local education authority. The model scheme provides for a scale of allowances under which a teacher with four or more years' service is entitled to receive in any period of one year full pay for 100 working days and half pay for 100 working days; local education authorities have discretion to extend the application of the scale in any individual case.
