Mr. Tope

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what consultations have been held with the Commission of the EEC with a view to assessing the implications of the Channel Tunnel project for the Commission's regional policy.

Mr. Peyton

None. An appropriate time for such consultations has not yet been reached.

Mr. Tope

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) how many properties he has acquired in anticipation of the construction of the Channel Tunnel;

(2) whether he will publish the full costs already expended in acquiring properties prior to the construction of the Channel Tunnel.
