§ 61. Mr. Liptonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in order to reduce tax avoidance or evasion, he will seek power to require companies registered in the United Kingdom to publish details of all directors' emoluments paid in the Cayman Islands or elsewhere outside the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. BarberMy right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry is already considering the question of the disclosure of directors' emoluments. As far as tax avoidance and evasion is concerned, the Inland Revenue as a matter of course makes full investigations into the possible use of artificial devices to minimise tax liability. I am considering whether further action may be necessary.
