§ Mr. R. W. Elliottasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement about the chairmanship of the Northern Economic Planning Council.
§ Mr. RipponSir William Reid, C.B.E., who has since 1965 given invaluable service on the Northern Economic Planning Council, first as a member and more recently as chairman, has now relinquished his appointment on completion of his term of office as chairman. I am pleased to announce that Mr. C. L. G. Baker who is already a member of the council has accepted my invitation to succeed Sir William as chairman with effect from today.
