Mr. John Pageasked the Secretary of State for the Environment, in view of the deterioration in appearance of the corner shop on the Bridge Street site whether he will take steps to see that the appearance of the shops and buildings which are becoming empty on the site are maintained, as this area is a focal point for British and foreign tourists.
§ Mr. ChannonI note my hon. Friend's views, but the corner shop to which he refers is not at present in Government ownership. Any action on the rest of the site must depend on the House's decision on the new parliamentary building.
