Waiting times for admission vary according to the circumstances of the individual case and an average figure for the region would, therefore, have little meaning, but of cases in the ear, nose and throat specialty admitted to Manchester Regional Hospital Board hospitals in the last quarter of 1972, 1,216 had waited less than a month, 3,106 for between one and five months and 1,829 for over six months.
