§ 83. Mr. Wallasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a further statement on the Anglo-Icelandic fisheries dispute.
§ Mr. AmeryOn 25th and 26th March there were a further two serious incidents on the Icelandic fishing grounds. My 341W noble Friend the Minister of State and Her Majesty's Ambassador in Reykjavik have since made it clear to the Icelandic Ambassador and the Icelandic Foreign Minister that although my right hon. Friend has been studying the reports of the talks in Reykjavik on 22nd March in the hope that a date can soon be agreed for ministerial negotiations, we cannot propose dates for these unless Icelandic harassment of our trawlers ceases.
