§ Mr. St. John-StevasGovernment support for the encouragement of the arts is channelled mainly through the Arts Council of Great Britain which has the responsibility of deciding how the funds put at its disposal can be most effectively deployed amongst competing claims. The availability of rehearsal facilities for orchestras in Britain, not only in London, is one of the matters the council has under consideration.
