Mr. Varleyasked the Minister for the Civil Service if the £3.25p (16 per cent.) increase in remuneration per session for Government-appointed consultants on medical appeal tribunals, instituted on 29th January 1973, was approved in accordance with Section 2 of the Counter-Inflation (Temporary Provisions) Act 1972.
§ Mr. Kenneth BakerThe increase to which the hon. Member refers relates to a settlement reached before the standstill. It has been implemented in accordance with paragraph 13 of the White Paper Cmnd. 5125. The application of Section 2 of the Counter-Inflation (Temporary Provisions) Act 1972 does not therefore arise.
