Bakerasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many applications were received for grant and loan facilities for the building of fishing vessels in England and Wales in the past 12 months to the nearest convenient date; and how many of such vessels were ordered from foreign building yards.
§ Mr. Anthony StodartI am informed that in 1972 the White Fish Authority received 139 applications in England and Wales for financial assistance towards the building of fishing vessels. Of the 106 applications which were approved for grant during the year, 11 were in connection with vessels to be constructed overseas.
