HC Deb 15 March 1973 vol 852 cc435-6W
Mr. Idris Owen

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he is satisfied that engineering skills are used to the best advantage in his Department.

Mr. Rippon

The proper discharge of my Department's responsibilities calls for a wide range of engineering skills. Engineering staff make a major contribution in many of the areas of Departmental responsibility.

To advise me on the best way of ensuring that the Department's engineering expertise is deployed and managed to the best advantage, I have decided to set up a small high-level inquiry.

I will announce the names of the people who will undertake the inquiry shortly.
