HL Deb 14 March 1973 vol 340 c420WA
LORD BARNBY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will supply figures indicating the balance of trade between the United Kingdom and Russia over the past three years.

THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDERSECRETARY OF STATE, DEPARTMENT OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY (THE EARL OF LIMERICK)

Following is the information: Figures for the U.S.S.R. of imports c.i.f. and exports f.o.b. for 1970 and 1971 are given in Volume I of the Annual Statement of Trade for those years and for 1972 in the December, 1972, issue of the Overseas Trade Statistics, but the difference between them is not a good measure of the visible trade balance because, inter alia, of the difference in the bases of valuation.

House adjourned at twenty-five minutes before nine o'clock.
