§ LORD BARNBYasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether they will supply figures indicating the balance of trade between the United Kingdom and Russia over the past three years.
§ THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDERSECRETARY OF STATE, DEPARTMENT OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY (THE EARL OF LIMERICK)Following is the information: Figures for the U.S.S.R. of imports c.i.f. and exports f.o.b. for 1970 and 1971 are given in Volume I of the Annual Statement of Trade for those years and for 1972 in the December, 1972, issue of the Overseas Trade Statistics, but the difference between them is not a good measure of the visible trade balance because, inter alia, of the difference in the bases of valuation.
