§ 62. Mr. Frank Taylorasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether, in view of the increasing rates burden, especially in major cities, he will consider appointing a consultant to advise local authorities on trimming unnecessary expenditure and achieving priorities in the best interests of ratepayers.
§ Mr. Graham PageNo. Local authorities are free to employ consultants if they wish. They also have available to them the services of their own organisations, the Local Authorities Management Services and Computer Committee and the Local Government Operational Research Unit.
