HL Deb 07 March 1973 vol 339 cc1277-8WA
THE EARL OF LAUDERDALE

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many drilling rigs they expect to operate in the oil search of the British sector of the Continental Shelf off the Scottish Coast during the years 1973, 1974 and 1975 respectively.

LORD DRUMALBYN

On present estimates the maximum number of rigs operating at any one time during 1973 should reach about 20. The average number in that year is expected to be around 15, depending upon when new rigs come into service. In 1974 the average number should rise to about 20, remaining at that level in 1975.
