HC Deb 06 March 1973 vol 852 cc108-9W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (1) if he will indicate the value of British direct investment in the United States of America; and what percentage that comprises of the total foreign investment in the United States of America;

(2) if he will indicate the value of Community, excluding United Kingdom, direct investment in the United States of America.

Sir G. Howe

The following information is based on the latest statistics published by the United States Department of Commerce:

BOOK VALUES OF DIRECT INVESTMENTS IN THE UNITED STATES AT THE END OF 1970
Value (million U.S.dollars) Percentage of total
United Kingdom 4,110 31
Six EEC countries 3,528 27

Separate figures were not given for Denmark or the Republic of Ireland, but together they would not have exceeded 120 million United Kingdom dollars at most.
