§ Mr. Deakinsasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food why the Government consider it necessary to put proposals to the EEC Commission for the implementation of directive EEC 72/161 of 17th April 1972, since there is no statutory obligation to do so.
§ Mr. Anthony StodartThe hon. Member will see from Article 10 of the directive that there is in fact a statutory obligation here; and that it serves to safeguard our right to claim a Community contribution towards the cost of implementing the directive.
