Mr. S. James A. Hillasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will make a statement about the purchase of additional Boeing 747 aircraft by the British Airways group.
§ Mr. Michael HeseltineBOAC expects to take delivery of its thirteenth Boeing 747 aircraft in the early summer of this year. Approval has also been given for it to purchase two more of these aircraft for delivery towards the end of this year. These three aircraft, including spares, will cost about £34½ million and will bring BOAC's fleet of B747s up to 15.
