§ 36. Mr. Eadieasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will now make a statement on the most recent information he has received about the consequences of pit closures in Scotland.
§ Mr. EmeryI understand from the National Coal Board that Dollar colliery closed in May and that Auchencruive and Easton collieries will close on 13th July because of exhaustion of coal. Production at Maxwell colliery ceased for a period earlier this month because of a "heating" but has since been resumed on a reduced scale. The future of this colliery is being considered by the board.
