HC Deb 27 June 1973 vol 858 c341W
Sir H. Harrison

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many mobile homes have been constructed in East Suffolk in each year since 1968; and if he is satisfied with this rate of building.

Mr. Eyre

The returns made to my right hon. and learned Friend by county councils and county borough councils relate to land availability and to the construction of permanent homes. I understand that the East Suffolk county council has no figures of planning applications granted and taken up for mobile homes. It has, however, set up a working party to study what contribution mobile homes might make to dealing with shortage of housing.

In general, the Department's new guidelines, which are at present the subject of consultation with local authority associations, ask that mobile homes should be considered as a useful contribution to the provision of housing.
