§ 44. Mr. Edwin Wainwrightasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what would be the cost if the present sum of £1 which is now disregarded when calculating supplementary benefits were increased to £3 for aged retirement pensioners.
§ Mr. DeanThe cost of raising the £1 disregard to £3 a week would be about £14 million a year. It is not practicable to estimate the cost relating to supplementary pensioners alone, but it would be a substantial proportion of the figure quoted.
