§ Mr. AlisonIn this region, as in others, there are some difficulties in recruiting medical staff for accident and emergency departments. Hospital authorities recruit staff through all the usual advertising channels, and make full use of general practitioners who are prepared to work in these departments part-time. Three new consultant posts have been established in the region, and four more approved for establishment this year; this should help directly in staffing these departments, and also make them more attractive to junior staff.
