HC Deb 21 June 1973 vol 858 cc209-10W
Mr. Mason

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (1) what discussions have taken place between his Department and British Airways regard- ing the future development of its ancillary services and associated companies; and if he will make a statement;

(2) what consultations he has had with the trade unions within the civil aviation industry regarding the development plans of British Airways which are now under consideration by Her Majesty's Government;

(3) if he will make a statement on Government policy on the future development of British Air Services and British Air ways Helicopters.

Mr. Michael Heseltine

My discussions with the British Airways Board about all aspects of the future development of its group's activities are close and continuing. If these discussions lead to significant policy decisions being taken about the future of the group, I will ensure that the House is informed. It is for the board itself to arrange appropriate consultations with its trade unions about its future plans.
