§ Mr. Haselhurstasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make an order under Section 254 of the Local Government Act 1972 to ensure the preservation within the borough of Prestwich of the civic plate which has accumulated during the life of the borough; and whether he will have regard to expressions of public feeling in taking similar action wherever it arises.
§ Mr. Graham PageMy hon. Friend is no doubt aware of the provisions of Section 254(7) of the Local Government Act 1972. I am confident that local authorities will act sensibly in matters of this kind without any intervention by me.
