Mr. Edward Taylorasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he can now give figures for the number of cases known to the police in 1972 under the following heads: all crimes, murder, attempted murder, and manslaughter; and by what percentage these figures exceed or are less than the comparable figures for 1963.

The number of all offences recorded as known to the police in England and Wales in 1972 and an estimated percentage increase between 1963 and 1972 were given in reply to a Question by my hon.
