§ Mr. PeytonThe Council of Ministers (Transport) has not met since last December, when I made clear that the proposed 11 tonnes axle and 40 tonnes gross weight limit for lorries were unacceptable to the United Kingdom. In subsequent informal talks with European Ministers I have reiterated our opposition to the proposals which would be operative from 1980.
