§ Mr. Hugh Jenkinsasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will promote action in the Security Council resolutions designed to tighten sanctions against the Smith régime in Southern Rhodesia.
§ Lord BalnielWe shall continue to participate fully in the work of the United Nations Sanctions Supervisory Committee. As we have made clear, we are prepared to consider any practical proposals for the more effective enforcement of existing sanctions. However, whilst these are not being enforced fully we see no purpose in introducing new measures.
