asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what advice he has received on the damage to physical health arising from the wearing of platform shoes.

I have not received any evidence or advice to this effect, though I am aware that some people are concerned. I understand that the Health Education Council is considering the need to publicise the dangers of unsuitable footwear as part of its efforts to improve foot health generally. If the hon. Member has
